Amarillo resident Hank Liotart was honored this weekend by the Seattle Sounders of the MLS.

Liotart was among the players from the Sounder's first team in 1974 to be inducted into the teams “Circle of Honor” 50 years after the team joined the North American Soccer League (NASL).

A native of the Netherlands, who came to America in the 1950’s, Liotart played soccer when it wasn’t a very popular sport but for certain areas in the USA.

The original players were credited with the growth of soccer in the Great Northwest.

The players were recognized before the Sounders game with Minnesota United on Saturday night.
