A man who auditioned on NBC's "America's Got Talent" led the audience and the show's four celebrity judges in a record-setting accomplishment -- getting the most people in a room to wear a pair of underwear on their heads at the same time.

The record was officially shattered, with an official adjudicator from Guinness Book of World Records saying 1,206 people all donned underwear on their heads for at least one minute at Pasadena Civic Auditorium in California.

"Simon, wear it!!," the audience chanted at longtime judge Simon Cowell during the episode, which aired Tuesday night.

The audience went wild when Cowell slipped the underpants over his head and peeked out one of the leg holes.

It all stemmed from an audition on the show by an Australian man named Nick Manning. He told the judges he was going to attempt to break the record for wearing the "most underpants pulled on in 30 seconds."

The current record is 23, which Manning failed to break. He fell short by just a few.

While Manning was still onstage, Terry Crews, who is the show's host, asked Manning about another world record. That's when Manning invited the audience to take part in putting underwear on their noggins.

"If everyone in this room did it, we would be World Record holders," Mandel said.

Crews told the audience there was a pair of underwear under each seat -- and most audience members seemed eager to grab the drawers and put them on.

They more than quadrupled the record, as 355 was the number to beat.

But not everyone was impressed.

Sofía Vergara said while she knows some people are fascinated with world records, this one lacked pizzaz.

"I, for some reason, I don't really care about seeing them happen," she said of some records. "So, I didn't love it."

Cowell shared similar sentiments.

"It didn't feel that it was very difficult to break that record, if I'm being honest with you," Cowell said.

Klum agreed, with Manning failing the audition.

"We definitely have not had an act quite like this before, but I feel like for all of us to put underwear on our heads is not a talent," Klum said. "It's a for for me."

Howie Mandel said he felt the same and Manning was sent home.

"Sorry, and thanks for sharing this record," Mandel said.

"America's Got Talent" airs Tuesday nights on NBC at 8 p.m. ET. It also streams on Peacock.
