Actress and comedian Erica Ash has passed away, her friend Loni Love confirmed via Instagram.

Ash had been fighting a lengthy battle with cancer, according to the Hollywood Reporter. The actress's family did not provide the outlet with specifics relating to her death.

“I am sad to confirm my friend and fellow actress Erica Ashe’s passing,” Love wrote Monday. “Erica was talented and hilarious whether it was the show Survivor’s Remorse or Madtv she would put her all into her work. She would always just be there.. now she’s gone.. My sincere condolences to her family and fans.”

Ash was known for her roles on “The Big Gay Sketch Show” and “MADtv.” She also featured in several movies, including “Uncle Drew” and “Outlaw Johnny Black.”

The actress starred alongside the likes of Kevin Hart, Shaquille O’Neal, Keegan-Michael Key and Usher.

After graduating from Emory University with a pre-medicine degree, Ash went to Japan, where she became a backup singer and runway model. This experience led her to later pursue a career in entertainment, according to her website.

Director Christopher Landon took to X to share happy memories of Ash.

“Erica Ash was a light,” he wrote. “Beautiful, funny, beyond talented. I was blessed to work with her and call her my friend. My heart goes out to her family and friends right now.”
